Basic Local Moving Charge Units
Though various companies may apply different charging systems, when it comes to local moving, the vast majority of all movers will charge by the hour. This hourly charge is normally determined according to the number of movers you’ll need for your move. The charge per hour will be different if you need three, four or five movers.
Not all movers actually write the hourly charge per hour on their estimate form. Some movers will simply write the total estimate price. Knowing the hourly rate of your local move is always a good idea. If the move takes more or less time, you want to be able to determine the reason for price fluctuations. Also, knowing the hourly rate will help you realize if the estimate is realistic or not.
Additional Local Moving Charges
Every move, both local and long distance, require packing. No matter what size of move, blankets for wrapping, boxes for packing and bubble wrap for breakable items will always need to be used.
Virtually all moving companies have additional costs for packing and packing materials. In addition to the rate per hour, make sure that your local estimate contains the rates for possible packing charges. It may also be a good idea to request your mover to detail all other possible extra fees on the estimate form to avoid the possibility of later confusions.
