There are three important aspects that will be crucial for any move: inventory, packing and conditions at pick up and destination points. The more accurate you are with the information you provide regarding these three aspects, the better will your moving experience be.
Providing Information about Inventory
Your inventory list must be complete and accurate, whether you provide it in writing, over the phone or to an in-house estimator. Be sure to update your mover about any items you added, purchased or got rid of. Inventory fluctuations will influence both local and long distance moves, so be sure to be as accurate as you possibly can.
Providing Information about Packing and Access Conditions
Don’t surprise your mover. If you need full packing services, be sure to inform it in advance. If you’ve decided to do the packing yourself and change your mind at the last minute, be sure to give your relocation consultant a call and update her.
Providing information about access conditions is also of the utmost importance. Be sure to report any parking limitations, elevator usage restrictions and other possible hindrances in advance. If told in advance, the moving company may be able to come up with ways to solve various parking and access limitations.
