Getting to Know your Mover
How can you truly feel that you are familiar with a moving company? Almost all moving services will have flashy websites and attractive offers, so how will you be able to tell which one is telling the truth?
- Verify all the information that the mover provides you, including license numbers, the validity of references and physical address.
- The estimate itself should be crystal clear with all terms and conditions outlined and detailed. Details should include packing, insurance options and all possible surcharges.
- Double check that you are dealing with an actual mover and not a virtual entity by paying a visit to its local headquarters. Take a look at the trucks, facilities, storage area and offices. Sign your contract at the moving company offices.
- Make sure that the moving company has enough experience to provide you with all the promised services. Check how many years the mover has been in existence. For larger and more complex moves, experienced and reputable companies should be preferred.
- Try to avoid estimates that are considerably lower than average. Such offers are normally too good to be true and will change once the day of the move comes.
