It is time to contact potential movers. In this part, we take a look at how you should conduct the initial search for potential relocation companies.
Limiting Your Searches
An internet search for potential relocation companies will yield dozens of results. Before you start filling out dozens of online forms, take a minute to consider limiting your search to only a few reputable companies. Being bombarded by thirty estimates from shady moving companies will serve no purpose at all. Even if you get very low prices, it is difficult to believe they will remain the same on moving day. Our recommendation is to limit your search to up to six companies. Again, receiving dozens of estimates will probably end up causing confusion and may lead you to make an erroneous decision.
Thinking Local
Check the physical location of your potential movers before actually contacting them. Many moving service providers advertise their services regardless of their distance from your physical location, others will simply subcontract movers from your area. The best way to go is to contact local movers directly. Check addresses and make sure they contain an actual office storage facility and a warehouse. Local movers will be able to provide immediate solutions to any problems that might occur during the relocation. If you need more movers, or more packing materials, if you have parking or access difficulties, a local relocation company will be able to provide you with immediate solutions.
Once you have a list of about six established relocation companies with local offices in your area, it is time to check their reputation.
